SEPSIS

by | Dec 3, 2018

SEPSIS is a serious condition which requires immediate medical attention.

In short, it is a complication caused because your body (specifically your immune system) is trying to fight an infection.

Sepsis is still relatively rare but can be life threatening so it is important to spot the early warning signs which can include:-

  • a fever or high temperature or, conversely, a low body temperature
  • shivering
  • fast pulse
  • rapid breathing

Seek medical advice urgently from  NHS 111 if you’ve recently had an infection or injury and you have possible early signs of sepsis.
