Let JMS First Aid deliver Children's Mini Medics first aid courses at your school or venue

This is a very basic introduction to First Aid and Defibrillation aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 13, but it can suit children of any age.
The Mini Medics first aid course is kept at a basic level with no use of confusing terminologies.
The course will show complete respect for the child’s ability, make it educational and practical, and instil the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured.
Our Mini Medics courses are perfect for children at primary schools, Brownies, Guides, Cubs and Scouts Groups.

Course duration

We are running two types of sessions:-

  • a 1-hour course covering the more basic and fundamental topics which is open to anyone aged 4yrs-13yrs
  • a 3-hour course which also covers more detailed and advanced topics (see below) so we are limiting this to those aged 8 and over.

 

Areas discussed on both courses include:

  • What is first aid?
  • How to call for help
  • Keeping safe
  • How to assess a casualty with DRABC
  • CPR
  • Recovery position

 

The 3-hour course will then also include:

  • How to use an AED
  • Choking
  • Asthma
  • Wounds and Bleeding

 

Syllabus

In addition, on the 3 hour course:-

• How to use an AED

• Asthma
• Wounds and Bleeding

Assessment

This is a non-regulated qualification and attendance is all that is required.
Optional test/quizzes are available in the form of a worksheet.

Certification

A certificate of attendance is provided to all children.

Numbers

Typically a maximum of 16-20 children can be accommodated on this course and ideally, all children should be a minimum of 8 years of age. However, younger children are permitted.
