Anaphylaxis course
Who is this suitable for?
This 1 hour Anaphylaxis Course is suitable for anyone who works in an environment where an anaphylactic reaction or anaphylactic shock may occur. It helps to provide a greater awareness of the causes and recognition of an anaphylactic reaction as well as the treatment and management of such a situation. It includes the use of auto injector devices. The course uses the Anaphylaxis Campaign’s allergy-wise material as endorsed by The Anaphylaxis Campaign and the RCN.
Which candidates can attend?
Candidates should be over 16 years of age and possess at least Level 1 Numeracy and Literacy, or the equivalent.
When and where does the course take place?
This is a 1 hour course completed on the same day. Training can take place at your workplace on a date and time to suit you.
Course syllabus
- Identify common triggers for anaphylaxis
- Explain how to minimise the risk of an an allergic reaction
- Recognise suspected anaphylaxis
- Identify how to administer first aid for a casualty suffering from anaphylaxis
- Demonstrate the correct use of approved adrenaline autoinjectors

Basic Life Support & Management of Anaphylaxis
Who is this suitable for?
This qualification suitable for those who require additional training in basic life support and management of anaphylaxis. Many attendees are those working in environments that support children who may be at risk of severe allergic reactions, for example, those working in nurseries and other Early Years settings. The qualification has been designed as the perfect enhancement to standard first aid courses such as the QNUK Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF).
Which candidates can attend?
Candidates should be over 16 years of age and possess at least Level 1 Numeracy and Literacy, or the equivalent.
When and where does the course take place?
Typically delivered over 3 hours, this training can take place at your workplace on a date and time to suit you.
Course syllabus
- Be able to assess an incident
- Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive and breathing casualty
- To be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and not breathing
- To provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
- To be able to use an AED
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & Automated External Defibrillation (AED) (Level 2 RQF)
Who is this suitable for?
This qualification is for those that are likely to use an Automated External Defibrillation (AED). While AEDs are simple to use and the awareness of their use appears in many of today’s first aid qualifications, this course provides a greater understanding of the setting-up and maintenance of these essential pieces of life-saving equipment.
Which candidates can attend?
Candidates should be over 16 years of age and possess at least Level 1 Numeracy and Literacy, or the equivalent.
When and where does the course take place?
Typically delivered over 3 hours, the training will be delivered at your workplace at a date and time convenient to suit you.
Course syllabus
- Be able to assess an incident
- Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty that is not breathing normally
- Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty that is breathing normally
- Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Understand the principles of using and maintaining an AED

Basic Skills - Annual Refresher Update
Who is this suitable for?
This qualification is for those that hold a current First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, who are in need of an annual refresher as recommended in the Health and Safety (First aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.
Please note, this qualification is intended to ensure candidates maintain their skills during their qualification period.
This is not a re-qualification, qualification.
Which candidates can attend?
Candidates should be over 16 years of age and possess at least Level 1 Numeracy and Literacy, or the equivalent.
When and where does the course take place?
Typically delivered over 2-3 hours, this training can take place at your workplace on a date and time to suit you.
Course syllabus
- Be able to assess an incident
- Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive and breathing casualty
- to a casualty who is unconscious and not breathing
- to a casualty who is choking
- Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
- Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock
First Aid for Children
Who is this suitable for?
This will be a two hour fun and interactive session aimed at 8-15 year olds covering basic life support.
When and where does the course take place?
Typically delivered over 2 hours, this training can take place at your own venue on a date and time to suit you or spaces may be available on one of our open courses.
