Paediatric First Aid (RQF Level 3)
Who is this suitable for?
This qualification is aimed at those working in an Early Years setting who require a paediatric first aid qualification to meet the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements and is seen as the most common qualification for Early Years practitioners.
Which candidates can attend?
Candidates should be over 16 years of age and possess at least Level 1 Numeracy and Literacy, or the equivalent.
When and where does the course take place?
This 12 hour course is typically delivered over two days. Training can take place at your workplace on a date and time to suit you. Alternatively, you can go ahead and book on one of our open courses which are perfectly suited to individuals wanting to take part in this training.
The blended learning option consists of six hours online learning followed by six hours (in one day) classroom learning including practical exercises and assessments. The practical session should be booked before undertaking the online learning.
Course syllabus
Unit 1
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the
paediatric first aider - Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child
- who is unresponsive and breathing normally
- who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
- who is choking
- with external bleeding
- who is suffering from shock
- Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with bites, stings and minor injuries
Unit 2
- Be able to administer first aid to an infant and a child
- with a suspected fracture
- with head, neck or back injury
- with an acute medical condition or sudden illness
- who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat & cold
- who has sustained an electric shock
- with burns or scalds
- who has been poisoned
- with anaphylaxis
How much does this paediatric first aid course cost?
In-house (up to 12 learners) £875
(discounted to £725 for 6 or fewer)*
*plus venue hire if not at your own premises
Individuals (open courses) £120
All costs include the provision of a First Aid
Manual as well as full certification.
How long is the course?
12 hours guided learning – over 2 days
(excluding breaks)
This course is also available on a blended basis combining online and classroom study
Is this course accredited?
Yes, and it is valid for 3 years
How much does this paediatric first aid course cost?

Yes, and it is valid for 3 years
Emergency Paediatric First Aid (Level 3 RQF)
Who is this suitable for?
This qualification is aimed at those working in an Early Years setting who require a first aid qualification for emergency paediatric first aid. Whilst the course meets the requirements for those working in an Early Years setting, the organisation should ensure that they also have suitable numbers of staff with a ‘2 day’ qualification, such as the QNUK Level 3 Award in Paediatric First aid (RQF).
Which candidates can attend?
Candidates should be over 16 years of age and possess at least Level 1 Numeracy and Literacy, or the equivalent.
When and where does the course take place?
This 6 hour course is typically delivered in a single day. Training can take place at your workplace on a date and time to suit you. Alternatively, you can go ahead and book on one of our open courses which are perfectly suited to individuals wanting to take part in this training.
